Marvel Rivals is known for its creative and customizable character skins, and its summer swimsuit line is one of the most successful releases yet. Now, a new Black Widow Aquatic Assassin skin is launching, and it’s bringing a stylish edge to the iconic ‘for the vibes’ character. Let’s explore the cost, release date, and more.

Marvel Rivals’ Black Widow Summer Skin: Aquatic Assassin

On June 24, 2026, Marvel Rivals announced a brand-new Black Widow ‘Aquatic Assassin’ swimsuit skin. The cosmetic dresses Black Widow in a sleek cutout one-piece, and it has several Chroma variations. Players can stunt on opponents in golden yellow, deep burgundy, and emerald green versions.

Marvel Rivals’ official X.com account accompanied the announcement with a video, which showcases the skin in action. In the clip, Black Widow relaxes by the ocean and surfs waves on a jetski.

Black Widow has always been one of the most difficult Marvel Rivals characters to play. She is similar to Overwatch’s Widowmaker, who is a mechanics-heavy Sniper, and has gained notoriety in the community. According to stat-tracking site rivalstracker.com, she has one of the worst win rates in the game at just 38%. Widow players have also gained a reputation for playing selfishly, refusing to swap ‘for the vibes’ despite performing poorly. However, this new skin could be an opportunity for the character to get more play time, and thus improve her status with fans.

How Much Does the Black Widow Summer Skin Cost?

The Black Widow Aquatic Assassin skin is a premium outfit, so it will likely cost real-world money to obtain. The official Marvel Rivals news release states that the price is still TBD. However, previous swimsuit skin releases have set players back somewhere between 1,400 Units/Lattice (about 14 USD) and 1,600 Units/Lattice. Some summer skins have also become available in the game’s Battlepasses.

Players can either purchase Lattice from the in-game Currency Shop or obtain it in small amounts from premium Battlepass tiers.

Marvel Rivals’ Esports Presence

Marvel Rivals has made a pretty significant splash in the esports world since its release, and it happened faster than most people expected. The game’s hero shooter format drew immediate comparisons to Overwatch, which already had an established competitive ecosystem. NetEase and Marvel moved fast to capitalize on the momentum, launching organized competitive events and drawing in both established organizations and new ones looking to get in on the ground floor. Big esports orgs signed rosters early, betting that the game’s massive player base would translate into a sustainable competitive scene. It also helped that Marvel Rivals made a point to cater to Overwatch’s frustrated fan base, smoothing over pain points in the latter.

It remains to be seen whether Marvel Rivals can last against its esports competitors. Hero shooter fatigue is a real risk, and it’s easy for games to get complacent. In addition, Overwatch is stepping up the competition. The game has delivered plenty of updates to compete, including a recent new hero, Shion. All that said, Marvel Rivals has proven it can pull viewers and generate genuine excitement around high-level play.
